Men, are you worried about losing your facial hair?

You may not be aware that beard and moustache hair is very coarse due to its ”bayonet” shape It has a convex base and a pointed apex, with twists along the hair shaft.
You do not have to shave off your thinning or patchy beard or moustache although this hair loss may be difficult to hide. This loss can however be disguised with camouflage products. To get the best affect, these should be freshly applied daily.  The use of camouflage should also stop you from over examining the area as this may make the skin sore and dislodge further hairs.  Facial hair will also benefit from being kept well-groomed and trimmed regularly.
Facial hair loss is triggered when any or all of the following occur:  poor dietary  habits; anxiety; emotional or physical stress .  The result of these triggers is that a higher percentage of hair follicles than usual are tripped into the resting phase (hair going into a dormant period) prematurely. Instead of a normal 2% of hairs becoming dormant, this can increase to around 50%. and, once in this resting phase, hairs will fall out.
This condition is not usually permanent and once the triggers are identified and removed the hair will start to regrow.

Please remember that facial hair can harbour dirt and bacteria and so must be thoroughly washed and dried daily.
