The topical application of menthol in cream soothes and cools the skin. It is thought that, when applied to the skin, menthol dilates blood vessels and selectively stimulates sensory nerve endings for cold, to produce a sensation of coldness, which is followed by an analgesic effect.

The bleach begins to work as soon as it comes into contact with the hair. The hair swells and the cuticle lifts, allowing the bleach to penetrate the cortex of the hair. Oxygen is released from the peroxide which reacts with the natural hair pigments known as Melanin, Pheomelanin and Trichosiderin , making them colourless.

Bleaching the hair changes the colour through the colour spectrum, for example dark brown hair through to warm red to a very pale yellow. The shades and the final colour depend on the original colour of the hair.

Bleach is a chemical used to lighten the pigment in the hair. The bleach should be non-toxic, mild in action and free from harmful residue. 

To be effective, bleach needs a ready supply of oxygen. The most common source of this oxygen is hydrogen peroxide, a colourless, oily liquid. In order for the bleach to remain in contact with the hair it must not be watery. 

Various agents are added to the bleach, such as emulsions, powders and oils to make the bleach more pliable in its application. Also boosters and activators may be added to these agents to increase the speed of the reaction.

Not all men can grow thick facial hair as this is genetically determined.  Hair can only grow if a hair follicle is present.  Some men have the condition alopecia areata (circular patches of hair loss)  which can affect the beard as well as the head. If they are not growing a beard they may not be aware that some of their hair follicles are empty. If a man has this condition it may be permanent or temporary, in the latter case the hair follicle may re-establish. Alopecia areata is usually triggered by factors such as stress.

To conceal translucent (grey) hair you should consult with a hairdresser as to colouring the hair or beard. If you wish to permanently conceal i.e. also colour the natural new growth, then this would need to be carried out every 4-6 weeks.

Eyebrow and eyelashes can also be permanently coloured by a beautician and this also carried out every 4-6 weeks.

Alternatively, you may wish to use temporary coloured hairspray or camouflage cream in the beard area and eyebrow pencil and mascara for the lashes. When choosing hair colour it is best to match to your own natural shade, because if you go too dark as you get older it tends to highlight the lines and wrinkles lines on your face and neck, which will have the overall effect of making you look much older.

Dermacolor Camouflage products are especially highly pigmented make-up which is designed to correct and cover skin disfigurements, discolorations and tattoos. Dermacolor Camouflage Cream is especially suitable for face and neck. With proper use of the Dermacolor Camouflage System skin abnormalities can be easily concealed. Dermacolor Camouflage Cream is fixed using Fixing Powder and Fixing Spray from Dermacolor. It will be waterproof and protects the skin against damaging UV radiation. Dermacolor Camouflage could last even under extreme conditions like swimming, heat and physical strain. Dermacolor Camouflage Cream is available in an extensive range of shades and those are intermixable which gives the make-up a natural appearance when applied correctly

N.B. This product can be used on other areas of the body, but if applied to the hands would need to be reapplied after hand washing.

Hair that grows on the head takes on average ½ inch per month to form and appear from within the hair follicle and lasts for around 7 years during its growth life cycle.  

During this period the colour pigment (melanin) is lost ( the shaft becomes translucent) and this is normally irreversible. 

These colourless hairs mix with coloured hair, which gives the appearance of grey hair.  Eye brows and eyelashes are also affected by the loss of the colour pigment but this hair is being replenished on a shorter cycle, every 6 weeks and therefore tend to retain the colour longer to complement the facial skin tone.
